The Security Coordinator at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has been dismissed after a committee found him culpable of engaging in corrupt practices.
Retired Warrant officer, Asiedu Fosu is alleged to have taken bribes from shop owners with promises to stop their shops from being demolished in an operation to rid the city of unauthorized structures.
He was exposed when one of the persons he took money from had the shop demolished among others whose structures were sighted 20 meters from major roads.
The five-member committee chaired by Agartha Arhin that investigated the matter also recommended Mr. Fosu’s prosecution.
Luv News’ Elton John Brobbey reports that a Spokesperson for KMA, Clement Kigeri, described Mr Fosu’s action as embarrassing and promised that the KMA would not protect its staff who go contrary to the Civil Service Act.
“After the committee finished its work, the allegations that were leveled against him have some amount of truth,” Clement Kigeri noted.
