A mobile phone that was found at an accident scene near Tikobo No 1 has helped to identify the body of a dead woman at the Half Assini Government Hospital.
The victim, Madam Rose Akuba from Essiama, was among four persons who were killed in the accident when a taxi on which they traveling collided with a heavy duty truck at Kpokezo last Thursday.
Sources at the Hospital said four bodies were deposited at the hospital, three of which were identified but Madam Akuba could not be identified because of her severe head injuries.
The sources said three days later, some people who visited the accident scene found a mobile phone and when they dialed the last caller on it a woman picked the call.
She gave her name as Madam Rebecca Ehwia from Akpanduie near Aiyinase and they informed her of the death of her friend in an accident.
Madam Ehwia told the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini mortuary after identifying the body of her friend that Akuba told her on her phone that she would be traveling to some place without informing her parents.
“It was however unfortunate that she had died in an accident, I am informing the parents at Essiama to come down to Half Assini”, she said.
Her parents had identified the body at the hospital mortuary.
Mr Emanuel Armah Arthur from Aiyinase and Patrick Kwaw Mensah from Allowuley who were on admission have been discharged.
The rest of the bodies still at the hospital pending burial by their relatives were the driver of the taxi, Mr Tayi Ndede, from Allowuley, Mr K. Azanechie from Ahobre Kpole, Mr Ransford Armah Ofori and his wife, Madam Victoria Ofori, from Aiyinase in the Ellembenle District.
