With about three days to go for the Delegates Congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Sunyani, branch secretaries in the Lower Manya Constituency in the Eastern Region are dragging their constituency executives to court to bar them from voting at the Congress.
Branch Secretary for the secretaries at the constituency, David Homenu Walter told Adom News the branch secretaries have all resolved that the actions of the constituency executives are contrary to the ideals of the party and they should therefore be relieved from their positions.
Mr. David Walter claimed that a vote of no confidence had been passed against the constituency executives at a meeting so they are not recognized as constituency executives.
He said the defendants include the MP for Lower Manya Krobo, Michael Teye Nyaunu but they are yet to receive the summons letter from the Accra Fast Track High Court.
He said that if they do not receive the letter on time, it will be presented to them at the congress grounds.
David Walter said Michael Teye Nyaunu was a disgrace to the NDC because of his outbursts against President Mills and government adding he and the constituency executives did not deserve to lead the party and should therefore be relieved of their positions.
Meanwhile, the constituency Secretary for the NDC, Felix Amoanor has dismissed David Walter’s claims.
He said the constituency executives are not aware of any vote of no confidence passed against them or any writ filed in court.
Mr. Amoanor alleged that the branch secretaries and the DCE for Lower Manya Krobo are pushing an agenda to make one particular candidate win the election, but the constituency executives are not perturbed.
