Security officials at the Takoradi Port are describing the recent robbery attack on an oil vessel as an isolated incident that shouldn’t raise any alarms.
The armed robbers used canoes to get into the ship to steal several containers of paint meant for refurbishment of an oil rig.
The incident has raised concern about security at the port especially as Ghana has become an oil producing country.
But the Takoradi Port Police Commander, Superintendent John Naami told Joy News his men carry out constant operations to flush out criminals in the area.
He noted that the police have teamed up with the security officials at the port to patrol the area
Head of Security at the Takoradi Port, Captain Frederick Adjabeng also noted that the situation is an isolated one and that there was no cause for alarm.
