Residents of Pokuase Ridge East in the Ga West Municipality have boycotted a planned meeting over the management of waste from a mortuary in the community. The meeting between the community and owners of the facility was called by the Environmental Protection Agency. But the community leaders boycotted the meeting citing what they say was the short notice given. Edmund Quarshie who speaks for the residents said they wrote to the mortuary operators to postpone the meeting because the time was too short for the residents to meet with them but they refused to reschedule it. He explained that they were willing to meet with the officials but they only need time to gather all the residents for the meeting Officials at the EPA are however hopeful closure would be brought to the issue soon.
