The assistant headmaster of Odorgono Secondary School who is in detention on suspicion of rape has sued the Attorney General and the police.
Lawrence Kwasi Korley is being held for raping an American volunteer in his office but he has filed a writ accusing the police of abusing his rights.
Information picked up by Joy News indicates the wife of the beleaguered assistant headmaster has filed an affidavit in support of the writ.
She indicated since her husband’s arrest on July 19, he has not been arraigned before any court or charged with any crime to form a basis for a lawful detention.
She said this is in clear violation of Article 14 (3) of the 1992 constitution which gives him right to be brought before a court within 48 hours after his arrest and detention.
Mrs. Yvonne Korley said her husband’s rights were also violated when his bodily fluids were taken by police to build evidence to incriminate him without a court order.
She is therefore asking the court to declare that the continued detention of her husband and the forceful extraction of his bodily fluids are unlawful.
In addition to that, Mrs. Korley is asking for 1 million Ghana cedis in damages.
