National security operatives said to be officials of the Bureau of National Investigations, are reported to have swarmed the Osu District Magistrate Court in an attempt to arrest bailed suspects in a drug case, however they have met with a defiant judge who says they cannot arrest the suspects.
Reports monitored on Asempa FM say the trial judge is refusing the attempt to allow the arrest the suspects.
It is unclear why the security officers want to rearrest the suspects.
The stand off is reported to have drawn large crowds to the court precincts as the suspects remain holed up in the courtroom.
An eyewitness told Asempa FM the court had granted bail conditions including a GHS10,000 each and the seizure of their passports about a week ago.
Another witness said after the suspects met the bail conditions, the security officials refused to administer the bail, a situation that displeased the trial judge.
The reports say a reinforcement of police personnel has been sent in to support the arrest of the suspects.
