A die hard member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Asem fofro has disclosed that he prefers being famous to being rich.
Although a staunch traditionalist, Asem fofro said he believes in the biblical adage that a “good is name is better than riches” so he would rather wallow in poverty and be popular.
Dr Asem fofro who is an outspoken NDC activist and has been known to be very critical of the government said he loves his current status where he is known by everybody to being rich in obscurity.
Asem Fofro was a guest on Adom FM’s mid morning programme, Work and Happiness when host of the show, Jerry Justice asked his response to the topic of the day: “Whether one would prefer to be rich and not be famous or be famous and not be rich.”
He stated that although he is not affluent, he is famous because he is recognized wherever he goes to adding that he sometimes even dominates news headlines which is a big deal.
He borrowed lyrics of a song from highlife legend Abrantie Amakye Dede that ‘man was born to attain fame but not to live forever’ to buttress his point that having fame is important in one’s life.
He said it only becomes worrisome when someone uses foul means to gain popularity stating that his was won through hard work and perseverance.
