Government has revealed that residents of Napkanduri whose homes were destroyed during a police raid about a year ago to arrest Johnson Kombian, a notorious armed robber will receive some relief items on Friday. The items include building materials and food. This comes after a series of complaints about the neglect of the victims after the incident. Minister for the Interior, Dr. Benjamin Kumbuor told Joy News the items form part of the support government intends to offer. He said the delay was partly caused by the assessment being carried out by the District Assembly and the Regional Coordinating Council in the area. The outcome of the assessment is what has necessitated the early release of the relief items. “We will be sending some food items like rice, maize. We will also be sending some used clothes and mats, roofing sheets, roofing nails, lanterns and blankets to those who were not able to get their habitat repaired,” he stated. Dr. Kumbour said they are quickly mobilizing the items to ensure that the rains do not destroy the buildings that have been put up again by the people. He stressed that “the assessment is still on-going.
