The Western regional capital, Sekondi Takoradi, is inundated with so much filth.
Residents have heaped up garbage in front of their homes as the waste management department of the Assembly is unable to collect refuse in the city because there is a problem at the final dumping site at Sofokrom.
Joy News correspondent Kweku Owusu Peprah says the assembly needs a bulldozer to push the heap of refuse backwards to make space for more refuse to be dumped there.
But the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly’s STMA) bulldozer is said to be stuck in a mud in Whimdo, also in the Western region, where the assembly is preparing to build an abattoir.
The head of the waste management department of the STMA Gloria Gozor, says they are doing everything possible to get an equipment to clear the landfill site.
Regional manager of ZoomLion, Gershon Tsorbgey said all the stakeholders in the area are working together to bring the problem under control.
