Six people have been arrested for allegedly stealing some electrical cables belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at the Race Course in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
This followed a demolition exercise by the KMA to clear the area for a proposed Sun City project.
The alleged thieves, whose names are unknown, took advantage of the ongoing demolition exercise and stole the ECG cables, but luck eluded them and they were arrested, Luv FM's Elton John Brobbey reported.
Speaking to Joy News on Wednesday about the demolition exercise, Elton John Brobbey said parts of the areas have been demolished, much to the shock of the squatters.
The squatters had complained bitterly about insufficient notice offered them.
However, Brobbey said, the operation has been suspended for now till Thursday morning.
He said the assembly is hoping to be through with the demolishing exercise by next week.
“As at now, the place looks quite, calm and peaceful,” he noted.
