The Methodist Youth Fellowship Ghana has urged politicians to divert their energy and ideologies to finding a lasting solution to the problem of unemployment, poverty and increasing social vices in the country.
According to them, the increasing social vices in the country are as a result of the massive unemployment among the youth who engage in armed robbery and prostitution to earn a living.
The Methodist Youth voiced out their concerns at their Biennial National Delegates Conference held in the Sunyani Diocese of the church on the theme “Oneness in Christ and Personal Integrity”.
The youth noted that politicians must be focused and outline their political ideology and message to the electorate devoid of insults bearing in mind that their actions could trigger violence in the country ahead of the 2012 general elections.
They observed that Ghanaians would vote for a party that would improve their living conditions but not a party that insults its opponents.
The Methodist Youth also condemned the act of homosexuality which has gained currency in the country.
Quoting Romans 1: 18-32 in the Holy Bible which says “for the wrath of the God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth………for this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passion, they called on all churches to come out strongly to condemn these detestable acts and pray fervently in order to avert the anger of God.
They also called on the government to be firm in dealing with the issues concerning homosexuality and help redeem the reputation and the decent culture of the nation immediately.
