The General Overseer of the International God's Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim will have to face the wrath of the courts as the management of Hot FM, an Accra based radio station which he is alleged to have vandalized, have denied speculations that they are seeking an out of court settlement.
In a statement issued on Wednesday to dispel the rumours, the management of the radio station said “we would like to assure our numerous listeners, clients and sympathizers of management’s determination to pursue the case to its logical conclusion and would not entertain any OUT OF COURT SETTLEMENT as [is] being speculated in some quarters.”
Bishop Obinim stormed the studios of the station on Monday in protest of a discussion on his infidelity with the wife of one of his associate pastors.
He is said to have attacked a number of persons including host of the programme, Barimah Kwame Ntim and guests but was prevented from doing any more harm when the Adabraka Police was called in to maintain order.
The statement therefore applauded the Ghana Police for the prompt response to the radio station's distress call and the quick processing of Bishop Obinim for court.
The statement also commended the media for the solidarity shown towards personnel of the radio station as well as the clergy for their wise counsel.
It added that management was determined to “discharge our duties with all the necessary professional conduct in accordance with the ethics of the Ghana Journalists Association, of the National Media Commission and the code of conduct of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association which have guided our operations over the years.”
Meanwhile, the Tema Police have begun investigations into the alleged assault of an Adom FM reporter by members of the Tema branch of the International God's Way Church when he went there to seek their opinion on the ongoing saga about their Bishop.
The reporter said he was detained and beaten up by members of the church when he introduced himself as a media practitioner.
