Novak Djokovic said that he would consider taking a break from tennis after his straight sets 7-6(5) 6-3 6-0 humbling at the hands of Dominic Thiem.
The world number two was uncharacteristically flat – particularly during a third-set bagel – as he was humbled in two hours and 17 minutes.
The 12-time Grand Slam winner had a complete overhaul of his coaching staff ahead of the second Grand Slam of the year, and said when asked that he would not rule anything out as he attempts to address a worrying slump in form.
“Trust me I am thinking about many things, especially in the last couple of months,” said Djokovic in his post-match press conference.
“But I am just trying to sense what is the best thing for me right now. Obviously there have been a lot of changes with the team and so forth. I am excited to work with Andre (Agassi).
“At the same time, I have a responsibility towards the game itself and to others, so we will see.
“It is not an easy decision to make and I will see how I feel after Roland Garros and then decide what to do next.”
Djokovic, who was upset by world number 117 Denis Isotmin at the second-round stage at the Australian Open, will find himself outside of the world top two for the first time since July 2011 when the rankings are released on Monday.
