Two persons have died while thousands have been displacement following hours of torrential rains on Tuesday in parts of the Northern Region.
Schools and hospitals have been submerged by the flooding, according to Joy News Correspondents.
Some of the communities severely affected include Dohinayile, Jakarayili, Fou, Taha, and Sawaba.
One of the two persons who died in the heavy downpour has been identified as a 59-year-old Hajia Fati Bapuni, said to have been on her way to pick her child from school.
The woman passed away after allegedly being swept away by the strong current of the floods on her arrival at the Gariba Lodge Main Gutter area.
The other deceased person is yet to be identified.
The two-hour rainfall left in its wake total chaos in the affected communities.
Assemblyman for one of the affected areas, Mohammed Alidu, told Joy News the devastation caused by the flood is worrisome.
Joy News Martina Bugri reports on Wednesday that relief efforts are yet to reach the affected communities.
