Luv FM, a member of the Multimedia Group Ltd has lodged a counter charge against workers of a private developer in the Ashanti Region.
Three of its workers Erastus Asare Donkor, Nana Yaw Gyimah Mensah and James Aggrey were arrested and a complaint of unlawful entry filed against them.
They had gone to a project site in Kumasi, a five storey building project deemed to be unsafe by the KMA.
In a middle of filing a report the workers of the private developer accosted and assaulted the Multimedia workers.
Equipment, including, video cameras were destroyed and seized.
The private developer quickly went to the police to file a case of unlawful entry against the three Multimedia workers.
The police in taking statements from the Multimedia workers, added a second charge of unlawful conduct.
However, Multimedia has filed a counter suit of assault and damage to property against the private developer and his workers.
According to Erastus Asare Donkor, who led the Multimedia team to the project site, his driver, Nana Yaw Gyimah Mensah, was assaulted by the workers of the private developer.
The driver was given a police medical form and taken to a hospital. He has since been treated and discharged.
Meanwhile City authorities in Kumasi say they will sanction the private developer, Nana Boadu, who decided to continue with the project despite a stop work order.
Metropolitan Engineer, Emmanuel Anderson, says the assembly has never issued a permit for construction of the structure.
He said the assembly’s order for work to stop still holds because owner is yet to meet all requirements for approval.
“It is pure recalcitrance. We went there first to stop them barely two months ago. They moved out of site then they went back again. We made our guys to go there and tell them to stop,” he narrated.
He said they have written to the developer to produce all documents covering the project but he has failed.
He said they will not sit down for that project to go on without taking following the due process.
