Police Prosecutors handling the case of 13 members of Pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group Delta Force reveal investigation is complete.
The lawyer for the accused persons Mathew Appiah said “the police have forwarded the docket to the Attorney-General’s Department” for advice.
He added that progress is being made and the police are waiting for the advice the Attorney-General will give concerning the case.
The 13 accused persons are standing trial over the assault of the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei.
The accused face charges of a conspiracy to commit crime and assault a public officer, causing unlawful damage.
They were earlier freed by eight members of the group but later rearrested and have since been before the Kumasi Circuit Court.
The lawyer for the eight persons, Garry Nimako prayed the court to grant them bail, promising that his clients would corporate with the court.
But the court presided over by Patricia Amponsah, refused the bail application and remanded them into prison custody for one week.
The 13 earlier pleaded guilty to the offense of escaping from lawful custody and were fined GH¢2,400 each by the Kumasi Circuit Court.
Mr. Appiah said they were agitated earlier as development on the investigation was not communicated to them.
“The police are not obliged by law to inform us about what the details of the investigation are but our problem was, they kept us in the dark about the progress”, he explained.
However, he said now the investigation is over and the Attorney-General’s advice is expected at the adjourned date.
