Two renowned Lions clubs in Accra, Ultimate and Supreme, have jointly donated some valuable items to Nectar Foundation, an orphanage home at Nuaso – Newtown, Odumase Krobo in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region.

The items worth about GHȻ3,000, included bags of rice, beans, gari, cooking oil, pork, toilet rolls, antiseptics, toothpaste, drinks, used clothing, diapers among others.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com after the donation, National Secretary for Supreme Lions  Club, Christopher Apawu noted that the move formed part of the club’s social responsibility which is to give back portions of what God has blessed them with, to the less privileged and needy in the society.

He said, from the club’s point of view, giving to others, especially the less privileged, increases their capacity for love and makes one realize that even if you do not have much, you have enough to share with others.

According to him, the donation also formed part of activities outlined to mark the club’s centenary celebrations across the country.

In another development, President of Accra Ultimate Lions club, Mr. Victor Mensah-Torkornoo also hinted of plans by the club to organize a health screening exercise for the children and also provide the foundation with proper accommodation to help ease their housing deficits.

He added that, the club has also resolved to offer a helping hand to the foundation’s brilliant children who performed creditably in this year’s West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE), in order to help them acquire tertiary education.

On his part, Director of the Foundation, Rev. Fred Anyasor-Nartey, expressed his gratitude for the support and called on other groups and cooperate societies to emulate their kind gesture.
