It was a great occasion to look back on what the Lord has done and a glorious opportunity to look forward into a greater future for what the Lord will do. And when they worshiped, danced and lifted their hands, it was a sacrifice of praise to the Lord, a heart of gratitude to a church whose preoccupation has been to touch lives, and to build the character of many.

That was the atmosphere that characterized the 20^th Anniversary of the Covenant Rest Mission, a faith based Church, a citadel of hope to thousands of homes.

Under the theme, the Superior Speakings of the Blood, speaker after speaker testified to the glory of God and how their lives have changed as a result of the blood and how the inspiration, vision and direction of one woman,  Apostle Victoria Agyarkwa the overseer of the Covenant Rest Mission has seen them through life.

When the blood speaks, things change in the affairs of men, Minister Emmanuel Somuah, Guest Speaker for the anniversary ceremony said citing the story of the Israelites and how their story changed by the blood after 430 years of bondage and affliction.

“What the Israelites could not do in 430 years, they did in 24 hours because of the blood,” he said. And that was the blood of lambs. Yet a superior blood was shed, the blood of Christ, one that atoned for all sacrifices, one that takes all limitations of men.

Minister Somuah is himself a testimony of the change and the limitless opportunities that have come his way as a result of God’s decision to arrest Apostle Victoria Agyarkwa.

That arrest came on the verge of death, in the belly of the ocean, when all hope was lost but God showed up in an extraordinary way to save the life of a drowning young woman, who in the beginning cared less about the things of God and cared more about her love for swimming.

She was saved for a purpose- to raise new breed of leaders, mentor thousands of others in the Lord.

For over 20 years Sister Victoria Agyarkwa, now an Apostle has created a river of hope, a future of promise to over 8000 children who otherwise would have lived a life without Christ and in a desert of pain, poverty, humiliation and lack of education.

What started in 1983 as a Good News Club called the Tranquile Nest Outreach with five children who were fed with the Gospel of Christ, has now become a cathedral- Covenant Rest Mission- with several hundreds of children, men and women.

The hunger and poverty of the period notwithstanding, Sister Vic, as she was affectionately called, moved from house-to-house and gathered children for bible classes on Sunday afternoons.

With her holy hunger and an insatiable thirst to grab them young and feed them with the word of Christ, an army of children besieged the compound of the Good News club.

20 years after, those children who had no hope, but were full of dreams; no faith but full of promise, now walk in the manifestation of God’s glory.

Pastors, bankers, doctors, lecturers, chartered accountants, bakers, electricians all of them flooded into the Covenant Rest Mission to testify of God’s goodness to them.

They danced, sang, worshipped and listened to the word from one of their own- Minister Emmanuel Somuah- as Apostle Victoria Agyarkwa, in white gown sat back watching, wearing an infectious smile and directing affairs from her little corner closer to the podium.

Apostle Agyarkwa was content with what the Lord has done with her and through her. For the seeds sown with sweat, the diligence in prayer now bears fruits all to the glory of God.

But the work in the Lord was not done. The harvest is still plenty but the labourers few. There are more children to educate, dozens to raise in the lord and the Covenant Rest Mission is not at about to depart from its philosophy.

The Overseer gave out cheques to some members of the church who are still being sponsored through basic, secondary and tertiary education.

For a church that believes in empowering the youth and harnessing their skills and potential, the church as part of the 20^th Anniversary organized a seminar on baking, and electronics for members in order for them to have alternative job opportunities.

Members from the other branches Sunyani, Mayera, and other parts of the country joined the main church at the Tesano branch for what was a blessed 20 Years Anniversary ceremony.
