The Omanhene of Akwamu, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Nana Afrakoma II, Akwamuhemea, Chiefs, and the Planning Committee on Saturday 23rd September 2017, formally launched the Second Akwamuman Homecoming (Nhyiamu Kɛse) 2017.
The event is meant to bring together sons and daughters and friends of Akwamuman, both home and abroad, as part of ongoing efforts to rebuild Akwamu and open up the area for investment and development.
The announcement by the Omanhene drew wild cheers from the chiefs and elders and members of the public who had gathered at the palace.

Once a prominent state with land territories covering much of the southern part of the present-day Ghana, and with many Akans tracing their roots to Akwamu, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, who was enthroned in February 2011, is seeking to rekindle the historic, cultural, political and spiritual bondage with its kith and kin dotted around Ghana and in the Diaspora.
In this regard, the Omanhene, Akwamuhemea, chiefs and people of Akwamu have set aside a ten-day period (from November 24th to December 3rd) for the Homecoming event.

Consequently, a nine-member Steering Committee chaired by Mr. E.D. Manful a royal of the Akwamu Twidan family has been formed to plan and ensure a successful execution of the event.
Akwamu is noted for its rich traditional culture and beautiful tourist attractions including some of the oldest artifact and Archeological sites in Ghana. It is also home of a variety of historical materials, culture and archival documents.
Some of such historical relics are:
- the bunch of the original keys of the Christiansburg Castle which was kept as a trophy and stool regalia by the king of Akwamu when the king of Denmark re-negotiated to take the Christiansburg castle back after its capture in 1693 by an Akwamu royal (Nana Asamani).
- The over Four (400) years bullet proof lion skin war cloth of the king Akwamu (Mahony)
These and more other relics will be showcased at the Bogyawe Palace Museum at Akwamufie during the Ten (10) day upcoming Nhyiamukese event from November 24 to December 3rd, 2017.

Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Nana Afrakoma II, Chiefs and People of Akwamu have therefore thrown an open invitation to all citizens of the world and Ghanaians in particular, to join them in the celebration, catch the opportunity to witness beautiful Akwamu tradition and scenery (Akosombo Dam, Adome Bridge, the Beautiful Mountains, Volta Lake) , and explore business opportunities. It is, therefore, an opportunity for Akwamus to meet at home, hence, Akwamuman Nhyiamu Kɛse.
