Ashanti Regional Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Daniel Agyenim Boateng who was arrested for alleged fraud has promised to pay back the monies he received.
Joy News' Ashanti regional correspondent Erastus Asare Donkor explained, Daniel Agyenim Boateng has been granted bail after he was picked up Wednesday afternoon.
He admitted receiving 11,400 from the complainant and popular NPP serial caller 'Yeboah Krofrom'.
Yeboah had given the NPP regional organiser monies and also collected more from six others in a process that was to land him and others jobs in the military, security services and other public sector jobs.
But after waiting for several months, Yeboah mounted pressure on the accused and eventually reported the politician to the Tafo Pankorano Divisional and District Police headquarters.
Daniel Agyenim Boateng was picked up by three Police CID officers in plain clothes and drove to the police station to write a statement.
Erastus Asare Donkor reported that the NPP regional organiser has since agreed to pay back the monies in two equal tranches.
It is not known if he will be charged as the Police at Tafo Pankorano are yet to speak to the matter.
The NPP's Ashanti Regional Organiser was himself pushing for a job as the Kumasi Depot Manager of Metro Mass Transit (MMT)
Daniel Agyenim Boateng was appointed in July 2017 but before he could assume office, another, Nicholas Oduro was also appointed to the same post.
The two appointments resulted in controversy after some supporters of Agyenim Boateng stormed the MMT Kumasi Depot demanding the withdrawal of the letter appointing Nicholas Oduro.
The demand went unheeded.
