Contemporary hi-life musician, Kwabena Kwabena, has described the current trending songs as monotonous.
Despite the impressive list of trending songs making the airwaves currently, the award-winning songwriter is of the opinion that artistes have allowed society to influence their style of music resulting in the lack of creativity.
“Why are we telling artistes the kind of music and the kind of rhythm they have to do in this country called Ghana,” he quizzed in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.
According to him, “when you listen to the radio, you’ll think you’re listening to a medley of songs produced by one producer. There are some songs trending, beautiful songs trending, but unfortunately for me, they are all monotonous; they sound the same.”
The musician, whose new album ‘Ahy3si’, is already receiving great reviews, also acknowledged the skill and effort of the producer of the album, Kwame Yeboah.
He acknowledged the producer as bringing a touch of veteran hi-life knowledge and international expertise to bear, making the album replete with creativity and depth.
He, however, lamented the lack of appreciation for the talent, despite his (Kwame Yeboah) recommendable works.
“Kwame is quite busy working with Craig David. He’s working now on Jimmy Cliffs new album, yes! A Ghanaian, and we don’t find him useful in Ghana, and that is very sad, but I do,” he said.
