Highlife musician Dada Kwakye Duah, aka Dada KD, has bemoaned the high level of hatred that exists among highlife musicians in the country.
The Veteran musician, speaking in an interview with Nana Poku Ashis for Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, noted that it is the main reason why there is no growth in the industry.
According to the 'So Mu Gye' singer, highlife artistes are not really making strong waves in the music industry because 'highlifers' hate each other.
“Not because of our talent or our musical intellect but because we simply hate each other. We don't want to see somebody going to the top that is why we are stuck in the middle; it's about time we learn how to love one another...,” he said
He further stressed that hi-life musicians do not collaborate with one another out of love but rather feel intimidated when a fellow artistes dares to collaborate with his colleague.
“...We collaborate but not out of love. If I want to collaborate with someone I fuse all my energy and talent into making the song a hit but your fellow artiste you are collaborating with, feels intimidated...,” Dada KD stated.
Dada KD also suggested to established hi-life artistes take the initiative to collaborate with new entrants and elevate the genre to a different level.
“...The moment the top highlife singers will reason to collaborate with the young guys, I think it's not going to be dead...,” he told Ashis.
'Dada' concluded that the current generation of musicians are blessed and have the benefits of advanced technology at their disposal to sell their works to the world via social media platforms.
