Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, has called on MPs to collaborate with traditional authorities to become abreast with their needs, which they could present to parliament for redress.
He said traditional authorities had been neglected with regard to parliamentary issues on socio-economic development and their roles.
Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw made the call at his palace when Mr. Alex Kyeremeh and Mr. Addai Simons, the NDC MPs for Techiman North and South respectively, called on him at the weekend to brief the Omanhene and his elders about the work of Parliament.
The dialogue turned to be a mini durbar and attracted NDC party faithful from both constituencies.
Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw noted that politics was very complex and commended the two MPs for performing well in Parliament.
He asked them to work positively towards the development of Techiman, especially the construction of the police barracks and the Asamankor cultural village.
The Omanhene disclosed that an interim committee had been set up for the establishment of Techiman Rural Bank and called on the MPs to support the project since a lot of micro-financing institutions had “set their eyes on Techiman”.
Mr. Simons said they had made contributions in Parliament towards the establishment of the cultural village, the police barracks, the central market, transformers for communities and the Tanoso integrated community vocational institute.
The MPs donated 20 million cedis towards the construction of the police barracks.
