The people of Anikokoase and the Benkum Family of Krobo in the Techiman Municipality on Friday launched a two-year development programme estimated at GH¢20, 000 (200 million cedis).
Nana Kofi Adum, Krobo Anikokoasehene and Benkumhene launched the programme during the celebration of the annual "Munifie Yam Festival" under the theme, "Unity Towards Development" at Krobo.
He said the project included the construction of a permanent palace for the family and that so far GH¢1,702 (17.2 million cedis) had been spent on the project.
The chief said the project would be financed through contributions of GH¢ 20 (200,000 cedis) per an adult male and GHC15 (150,000 cedis) for women and appealed to family members, especially non-residents to assist.
He advised the people to take the education of their children seriously and asked the youth to be wary of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and refrain from unwanted sex.
Nana Abena Takyiwaa, Krobo Anikokoasehemaa, urged the chiefs to give due respect to the elderly, especially the kingmakers who enstooled them, for peaceful co-existence.
Nana Kwasi Kyeremeh of the Anikokoase royal family stressed the need for all family members to contribute positively towards the completion of the project.
Abusuapanyin Iddrisu Manu of Krobo Kyidom family of Bohomoden, appealed to members to unite and to give premium to the socio-economic advancement of the area.
