The Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, is threatening legal action against those behind the creation of fake social media accounts in her name.
Mrs Bawumia has also signaled a move to remove accounts that infringe on her intellectual property rights.
Some of the fake accounts urged unsuspecting persons to share the Second Lady's photo to get her WhatsApp number or receive GH¢10 airtime.
One of the posts also read: “Am I Beautiful?? OK… I Will Chat With The first 500People To share This Post. Am lonely Here, Am online To Chat With My Fans. You Are Free To Ask Me Any Question And I Promise To Answer Your Question.”
However, all those accounts have been forged, according to a statement from the Office of the Second Lady, issued Thursday, January 18, 2018.
The official social media accounts of Mrs. Samira Bawumia are: SBawumia (Twitter), sbawumia (Instagram) and Samira Bawumia (Facebook).
“Any account, bearing her name and likeness other than the ones above, are to be disregarded. Her Excellency, Mrs. Bawumia and the Office of the Second Lady, assume no responsibility and will not be held liable for the consequences of decisions made based on information from any social media accounts other than the three listed above.
“Where applicable, due process (including but not limited to prosecution) will be followed to remove any accounts that infringe on the intellectual property rights of Mrs. Bawumia and her Office,” the statement indicated.
