Real estate developers want government to partner them to provide affordable houses in the country.
The call follows government’s pullout from the STX housing deal.
The project was expected to provide 30 thousand affordable housing units for Ghana’s security personnel.
It was however stalled due to boardroom wrangling and inability of the partners to raise the needed funds.
Executive Chairman of real estate firm, Comet Properties, Nana Odeneho Kyeremanteng told Joy News local developers can provide these affordable houses.
He said the time has come for governments to begin to look inward for solution to Ghana’s housing problems.
He rubbished claims that local estate developers do not have the capacity to execute such a housing project.
He said once they are provided with the necessary funds they will be able to live up to expectation.
Meanwhile, Joy News has learnt that government is currently studying proposals from four firms which have expressed interest in the project.
