Shareholders of the Amanano Rural Bank at Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of Ashanti have passed a vote of no confidence in the Board of Directors of the bank.
At an extra-ordinary general meeting held on Saturday at Nyinahin, the shareholders accused the directors, chaired by Mr. Osei Amo-Mensah, of incompetence, which had resulted in the Bank’s inability to pay any dividend since 2003.
They also accused the board of directors of deliberately dismissing staff of the Bank and replacing them with their favourites.
According to the shareholders, lack of effective communication and frequent interference of the day-to-day activities of the Bank by the board members had stunted its growth and expansion.
They therefore elected a new board of directors under the chairmanship of Nana Kofi Fofie to take interim charge of the Bank.
Other members of the interim board are Mr Augustine Adu Boahene, Nana Twum-Ampofo, Mr Kwame Gyau Tutu, Nana Berchie, Mr Thomas Asafo Adjei and Mr Akwasi Asante.
