The Builsa District Assembly is asking for the prosecution of a National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) official for diverting relief items meant for flood victims at Sandema in the Upper East Region.
The official, Mr. Nyaba Agambila is alleged to have stolen several relief items for his personal use. The items included 30 bags of rice, 24 lanterns, 75 drinking cups and 74 plates.
Mr. Agambila has since resigned from NADMO, where he worked as a co-ordinator.
Mr. Agambila was reportedly questioned and released by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).
Meanwhile, some of the diverted items have been retrieved from his personal shop in Bolgatanga.
Speaking to Joy News, the DCE of Builsa, Mr. Thomas Alonsi says, Mr. Agambila will be prosecuted.
He also said strict measures have been put in place to prevent any future recurrence.
