Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation, NADMO, say they are looking for the owner of an uncompleted building which collapsed at Gbawe, a suburb of Accra yesterday, killing five people and injuring six others.
Among those injured is the wife of the wanted man. The woman is said to be in critical condition at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where she was rushed after being rescued from the crumbled building.
NADMO’s National co-ordinator, George Isaac Amo on Saturday blamed the collapse of the building on shoddy work and accused the house-owner of supervising it.
The officials have since been looking for the owner, said to be a Nigerian and only named as Oga.
Greater Accra Regional NADMO co-ordinator, Ben Brown says his men are at the site waiting for the owner to show up and answer some questions.
There were fears three more people were trapped under the debris but at the end of the rescue exercise last night, Mr. Brown says they found only one more person who was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
