Dancehall artiste, Abdul Razak Issahaku, popularly known as Iwan has openly declared himself the King of Dancehall music in Ghana. The artiste made the declaration during an interview on Hang Out, a segment on Cruise Control on Hitz FM hosted by Kwame B. Iwan, whose name stands for I-Win-Always-Naturally, boasted that he holds the key to dancehall music in Ghana. According to him, he came to open the gate and also shine the light in Ghanaian music with the experience he has gathered from his infancy monitoring the trend of dancehall. He commended artistes such as Samini, Bandana and Stonebouy for holding the fort when it comes to dancehall music in Ghana. Although these artistes have contributed their quota, he thinks he holds the key to dancehall genre in Ghana in this new era of music, a fact, he said, people can attest to through his tracks, Thanks and Praise and Who is Bad. When Kwame B quizzed him, why he tags himself as a representative of the ghetto? Iwan answered that, it was born out of his experience in life and that of others. He disclosed that, life, for him, was tough at the beginning and at a point in time in his attempt to make a living, he was turned down by an industrial company due to his age and height. Touching on rumours of a rift with Samini, Iwan refuted them and stated that, Samini is a senior brother and a close pal in the industry. He congratulated Blakk Rasta for winning the Best Reggae Song of the Year category in this year’s Ghana Music Awards.
