Ghana's U20s have arrived in South Africa ahead of an opening match versus Nigeria on Thursday night in the Cape Town International Challenge.
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria play the second game of the opening day action on Thursday against their Ghanaian counterparts
The first match will kick off at 1800 hours local time and it is between hosts South Africa and Argentina.
Both matches will be played at the Athlone Stadium, home ground of South African Premier League club Santos.
The defending African champions departed Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos on Monday night aboard Arik Air.
The poor visibility caused by heavy fog on a wintry morning in Johannesburg meant that the aircraft had to hover around the commercial capital city of South Africa for more than half an hour before it could finally land at the OR Tambo International Airport.
The team of 25 players and seven officials are booked at the Garden court, Eastern Boulevard, along with the seven other teams for this international invitational.
It was the same hotel the teams used when they played the inaugural international competition two years ago.
World champions Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Ghana, hosts South Africa, Cameroon and Kenya, who replaced Egypt, have all arrived for the tournament, which will be used by teams to prepare for continental qualifiers as well as the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup to be staged in Turkey.
The Flying Eagles had their first training session on Tuesday afternoon at the sprawling Ajax Cape Town training ground.
The tournament is bankrolled mainly by the city of Cape Town, who has missed the chance to host any match at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations to be staged by South Africa in January.
Other sponsors are the National Lottery and South Africa Football Federation (SAFA).
