A 38-year-old farmer, Kwadwo Aidoo, has butchered his 32-year-old wife, Hannah Amoako, a trader, to death at Wasabiampa village near Breman Bedum in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District.
Aidoo also drank poison and died.
Police said investigations revealed that Aidoo killed his wife because he refused him sex.
The Breman Asikuma District Police Command said a statement made by the 12-year-old daughter of the deceased couple stated that there was a misunderstanding over sexual intercourse between them.
She told the police that when her father started slashing her mother, she pleaded with him to stop but he told her to go and inform the mother's relatives about what had happened.
When the girl came back she found her parents dead.
