Community Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP) of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment has begun reviving voluntarism in communities across the country through its Rapid Results Initiatives (RRI) in 450 area councils.
Under the initiative, area councils are to form committees that identify comprehensive needs in the communities and implement them within 100 days with support from the CBRDP
Mr Mathew Brown Oppong, National Coordinator of CBRDP said this in Ho at a mid-point review workshop for six area councils in the Volta Region.
He said the RRI promoted voluntarism by empowering area councils to be "efficient and rapid in community development".
Mr Oppong said the initiative got people united and committed to achieve one objective.
He described the initiative as a "good principal approach" to community development and urged participants to make it successful.
