Some chiefs in the Anlo state led by the Fiaga of Klikor, Torgbui Addo VIII, have defied a court order and pushed ahead with a meeting to discuss the Anlo Chieftaincy issue and the installation of a paramount chief, (Awomefia) for the Anlo traditional area.
A circuit court in the Volta Regional capital Ho issued an order for interlocutory injunction secured by the Anlo Traditional Council on Friday restraining the Anlo chiefs from organising the meeting.
The Volta Regional Police Command has been instructed to enforce the order.
Speaking to Joy news from Abor, the Fiaga of Klikor, Torgbui Addo VIII said he was unaware of any court injunction and had not been served either.
He said the meeting was ongoing at Abor albeit with a police presence.
Lawyer Chris Ackumey, who says he was the solicitor for the chiefs, said he was not aware of any injunction
The Anlo Traditional Area has been without a substantive paramount chief, (Awomefia) following the death of Togbui Adeladza more than 10 years ago and this has been a source of a protracted chieftaincy conflict.
