Freedom of Speech is indispensable in a democracy and yet it's also a palpable harbinger for trouble in the same democracy.
When does this freedom in a democracy become an albatross on the country’s neck? Your Super station Joy 99.7 FM answers this question in its debate scheduled for the British Council hall on July 24, 2012.
Under the topic "Criminalizing Speech, An Affront to Free Speech” two of Ghana’s finest lawyers will split hairs and even brains on the controversial topic of freedom of speech which appears to have a double barrel effect.
It will be part two of the clash between Senior Law lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Mr Kofi Abotsi and debate ‘foe’ Nana Asante Bediatuo.
The pair clashed in a stimulating debate organized by think-tank, IMANI Ghana a year ago and the stage is set for round two.
Adjudicating will be Justice V.C.R.A.C. Crabbe who will be the moderator and chair.
The time is 6:30-8:30 pm and attendance is strictly by invitation
