The National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu yesterday expressed regret at the death of President John Evans Atta Mills.
According to a statement issued by the Islamic spiritual leader “every life shall taste death one day but when it happens man should definitely mourn the departed ones as we are doing today. As we mourn let us, however, reflect on life and our relationship with our maker.”
The death of the former president he said should provide adequate lessons for the living so that as he put it “we would live righteousness lives as he did and give good accounts of ourselves when we depart this ephemeral world.”
The late president he said was a man he had interacted with on many occasions and “I found him to be a good man who loved to serve his people. He was full of humility.”
He enjoined all Ghanaians to pray for the deceased and bury their political differences for the good of the nation.
“We should remember that God created Mills and took him back. Even as we mourn we should reflect on how we too can contribute towards the good of our country as the deceased did,” he said.
In a related development, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, MP for East Ayawaso and a deputy minister yesterday went to formally announce the death of the late president to the National Chief Imam at his Fadama residence.
