The Architects’ Registration Council on Thursday inducted 55 newly registered architects at its 12th induction ceremony. The induction ceremony which marked a milestone in the career of an architect was held at the College of Physicians and Surgeons. The professional body regulates and oversees the work of architects in Ghana. The induction ceremony was witnessed by important dignitaries including the Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw and the president, of the Ghana Institutes of Architects (GIA) Mr. Adotei Brown. Whilst congratulating the inductees, Arc. H. D.L Yartey, Chairman of the Architects Registration Council charged them to practice the profession in a manner which reflects the standards of the Association. He took the opportunity to address key environmental issues endangering the lives of Ghanaians, citing the much talked about “Sodom and Gomorrah”, uncovered drains and open gutters in our communities, all products of bad architectural practices. He therefore urged the inducted architects to collaborate with policy makers to address these issues and in general, be sympathetic to the environment in all aspects of their profession. The architects were presented with certificates and a badge.
