On April 25, investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas wrote ‘The very foundation of Ghana football will collapse in a heap’.
It is only 48 hours after the premiering of the jaw-dropping investigative piece by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, yet a lot has happened in football administration in the country.
Now for those who have watched the video and followed the turn of events, perhaps it would be appropriate to say that the prophetic nature of this statement is unfolding right before everyone.
In a flurry of earth-shattering headlines, the most recent being the resignation of Kwesi Nyantakyi as GFA Boss, less than an hour ago.
Already government is taking steps to dissolve the Ghana Football Association.
On Friday, the world’s governing football body FIFA banned the man at the heart of the controversy, Kwesi Nyantakyi, for 90 days.
The drama reached a crescendo on Wednesday, when Anas’ latest exposè, number 12 was screened at the Accra international conference centre.
The documentary generated a wave of shock and outrage among Ghanaians after it detailed widespread bribery and corruption among match officials and top executives of the Ghana football association.
Is Ghanaian football at the crossroads and if yes what is the path to the salvation?
Connecting on the programme were Sammy Bartels, a lawyer and a sports journalist; Patrick Akoto, Communications Director of Medeama; Michael Nkansah, a football fan and former PRO of the Greater Accra branch of the Kotoko Supporters Union and Joseph Ade Coker a football administrator.
