An unidentified man believed to be in his mid-twenties was electrocuted when he attempted to steal electric cables from the Tema Industrial Area substation number five of the Electricity Company of Ghana.The man died instantly when the facility caught fire after he attempted cutting a live wire.The Tema police have deposited the body of the deceased at the Tema General Hospital morgue pending identification and collection by the relatives.Superintendent of Police Samuel Tetteh, Tema Community One Police District Commander, confirmed the incident and told GNA that on Wednesday upon receiving information on the incident, the police went to the Substation and found the badly burnt body.He said personnel of the Tema Office of the National Fire Service brought the fire under control in less than an hour.The Police Commander said preliminary investigations indicated that the unidentified man went to the substation to steal electric cables.He warned the public to desist from stealing electric cables and entering buildings with heavy electrical installations to avoid being electrocuted.Source: GNA
