A middle-aged woman and her three children have drowned in a river at the outskirt of Tumu in the Sissala East district of the Upper West Region.
They are Jamila Salamu, the mother, Billawu Salamu 8, Rafia Salamu 4, and Shaibu Salamu eight months.
The incident happened on Tuesday when they tried crossing the river from their farm after a heavy rain in the area.
The family of five were being carried in a truck but were swept away by the pressure of the overflowing river. Only one person survived.
The bodies have since been buried.
