Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer has congratulated all Muslims on their successful completion of the Ramadan fast.He said in a statement issued Sunday that Muslims “should also be glad that we have gone through this period in harmony and we have lived with each other in unity and utmost tranquillity” and hoped such virtues would be displayed even beyond the Ramadan.Below is the full statementOn behalf of the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo and on my own behalf, I am pleased to congratulate all Muslims throughout our country and the world over on the successful completion of our month long sacred Ramadan fast. The past 30 days has been a period of great sacrifice, a time we have abstained from the physical pleasures of life in order for us to seek immeasurable blessings from Allah, our Maker. In the past month, we have studied and recited the Holy Qu’ran, the teachings of the Holy Prophet, supported each other and shared with the needy so that we may be found pleasing in the eyes of Allah, the most merciful. On this all important date in our calendar as we mark the end of the fasting period, it is time to be glad and to rejoice for we have strengthened ourselves spiritually and we have sought blessings and favours from Allah which we do know he has and would fulfill. We should also be glad that we have gone through this period in harmony and we have lived with each other in unity and utmost tranquillity.I am confident, that the sacrifices we have undertaken in the last 30 days would reap bountiful rewards in the course of our years on earth and would be reflected abundantly in our personal lives, our communities and the Nation at large.I also do hope that though we have come to the end of this sacred period, we would carry on with the supreme virtues of peace, forgiveness, good neighbourliness, fellow feeling generosity and support for each other in our communities and the nation. As a person, I have been greatly privileged to have visited many of you in your Mosques and communities during the period to share prayers and to listen to your Tafsirs and I must thank you all for the wonderful welcomes you accorded me and the prayers you offered for me. I am most grateful.Once again, I wish you Ramadan Kareem and Eid ul-Fitr Mubarak.Baraka da Salla……Signed……
