Two people are feared dead after massive gas explosion occurred at the Sahara Park at Odawna in Accra on Monday afternoon.
The explosion razed down two wooden structures, crushing them into pieces, damaging about four cars parked close to the spot.
According to eyewitnesses, the welder who was working with the gas and a lady close by were severely burnt in the process.
They were quickly rushed to the hospital, but many fear they will not make it.
A loud bang accompanied the explosion that shook the foundations of several buildings which were even 500 metres apart. Some residents, who were living about 100 metres away sustained various degrees of injuries.
Some glass windows of buildings nearby were crushed with several belongings in people’s rooms falling apart.
A barbering shop which is about 50 metres away was also affected. The cause of the explosion is yet to be established.
