The Police Command has deployed many police officers to Ablekuma, a suburb of Accra following a gun battle between two chieftaincy factions there.
Three people are reported killed in the disturbances while three others who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the Police Hospital.
Several structures and cars have been vandalized. Structures including the palace of one of the factions and some vehicles were also set ablaze.
The violence broke out between the two factions owing allegiance to two disputed chiefs of the area during the popular Homowo ritual of sprinkling of Kpokpoi.
Nine persons including the two chiefs, Nii Kwaku Fosu and Nii Larbi Mensah IV, are in police custody.
The Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Freeman Tetteh said peace and order has been restored to the area.
