The Acting President of the Akyem-Bosome Traditional area, Nana Professor Ofosu Asante Kordan, on Friday commended President John Agyekum Kufuor for fulfilling all promises he made to the people of the area.
According to the chief, the last time the President visited the area, a number of requests were put before him and he was happy to say that all that they requested had received attention.
The Acting President said this when the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Kwadwo Affram Asiedu, paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and people of the area.
He suggested to the government to give the district assemblies additional funds to tackle sanitation problems facing them.
The chief, who is also the Akwamuhene of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area, said with the exception of the expansion of the girls' dormitory for the Akyem Swedru secondary school, all their needs had been taken care of.
He appealed to the regional minister to continue with the good relationship that the President had established with the people of the area.
The Kyidomhene of the area, Nana Apeani Kwaforoamoa II, expressed worry about the way some road contractors were delaying work on contracts awarded to them.
He appealed to the minister to bring those contractors to book since their behaviour was denting the good image of the government.
The regional minister thanked the chief and his people for recognizing the good works of the President.
He said the government was committed to the welfare and well being of the people, hence the introduction of many policies to promote development.
Mr Asiedu said the best commendation they could give to the government was to embrace all the policies to ensure that their objectives were achieved.
