Ghana and Togo have pledged to join forces to effectively check piracy and other crimes at sea.President John Mahama and his Togolese counterpart Faure Gnassingnbe agreed on this in a meeting in Togo.President Mahama was in that country earlier today as part of his thank you tour.Presidential correspondent Seth Kwame Boateng reported President Mahama as saying his visit is in appreciation to the president and people of Togo for their support and prayers during the burial ceremony of the late President John Mills.The two presidents also discussed some bilateral issues, including energy, electricity and water supply.President Mahama mentioned a joint project in the Volta Region, a treatment plant which will provide water to parts of the Volta Region in Ghana and parts of Togo.The Ghanaians president also mentioned security in the sub-region, pledging his country’s commitment to ensure peace in Mali.On piracy, President John Mahama said the naval and maritime authorities will combine efforts to check piracy in the waters of the sub-region.The Ghanaian president has since left for Nigeria to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan.
