The Supreme Court will this morning hear a motion seeking to restrain Parliament from considering the controversial CI 78 which is to legalize the creation of the 45 additional constituencies. The applicant, Ransford France wants Members of Parliament (MPs) to be estopped from sitting on the CI to enable it mature into law, because a substantive case challenging the legality of the creation of the constituencies is pending before court. His lawyer, Godfred Dame had earlier told Joy News the substantive suit could not be heard until October because judges of the Supreme Court are on legal vacation. He said if Parliament was allowed to sit on the CI, by the court's return from the legal vacation, the CI would have been law and the case would have been rendered redundant.Joy News’ Sammy Darko, who is monitoring events at the court reported all the key persons connected with the case were in court. He said Attorney-General Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor is in court for the state, just as a former A-G, Joe Ghartey for the plaintiff.Sammy said the mood in court is friendly with Mr Joe Ghartey and Dr. Kunbuor who will be engaged in a fierce legal battle when the case is called having a chat.
