The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has sent its fervent felicitations and best wishes to the newly inducted Rector of the school, Prof Franklyn Achampong Manu. The Students Council in a message signed by the Acting President of the SRC described as gratifying that Professor Manu who has had a long standing relationship with the students in his past time as Dean of the Business School, was selected above all the equally competent applicants, to lead the “Center of Excellence” into greatness.“Professor Manu’s impeccable record as the Dean of the Business School is enough testament to the strong impact that GIMPA students and graduates are about to make on public administration reforms and the private sector development of Ghana and the continent of Africa”, the statement said. The SRC said “it is beaming with confidence in strengthening communication with Prof Manu’s management and establishing a telepathic relationship between the administration and the students of GIMPA, who are already in high expectation”.The Council of Students further expressed their delight at the new dawn that Professor Manu’s leadership intends to introduce into the school and the “fellow-feeling energy that has characterized the authority’s approach to handling students’ concerns”.Mr. Famanyame Ewusi-Mensah, the Acting SRC President, indicated that the SRC has bought into the first vision of the new Rector to set up “An academic community in which students and clients are valued and encouraged to strive for excellence and life-long learning.”According to him, students are looking forward to the realization of this vision of the Rector which dovetails into the mission of GIMPA to maintain its status as “Centre of Excellence” for training in public and business administration, by continuously enhancing the capability of middle and top level executives in public and private sectors in both Ghana and internationally, to manage their institutions and enterprises efficiently and effectively.Giving his inaugural speech, Professor Manu summarized his strategic goals for GIMPA saying: “I would like to see a societal engaged GIMPA that is a leader in practice-based management of relevance to national development and which recognizes the importance of its people and systems for continued success. I see GIMPA at the forefront of all efforts to bring the public and private sectors together for Ghana’s development.” And it is this statement by the new Rector which has elated the student front in readiness to welcome a new dawn on campus. In the same statement, the GIMPA SRC expressed appreciation to the immediate past Rector of the School, Prof. Yaw Agyemang Badu for the great strides that the school chalked under his leadership.Mr. Famanyame Ewusi-Mensah stated: “Even as we miss your fatherly-care and love, we wish you the best of everything in all your future endeavors. It is our hope, GIMPA will forever manifest itself in wherever you are and in whatever you do.”
