The 2018 Accra International Book Festival (AIBF) scheduled for September this year, would be launched on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
The event would bring together world-class writers, publishers, politicians, scientists, poets, readers and environmentalists.
It would be held at the J. H. K Nketia Conference Hall at the Institute of African Studies inside the University of Ghana, Legon.
Speakers drawn from various fields would speak on topics from the grand theme for the 2018 Festival, Amplify.
"We want to use this year to focus on how writers, poets and musicians can serve as amplifiers for the pain, hurt and suffering some Ghanaians go through," AIBF Executive Director, Moses Annan Boadu said.
"There are so many silent sufferers in our society and we have to learn to give them the microphones to clear their conscience," he added.
The launch would also be used to award some distinguished individuals who have contributed toward the development of Ghana's literary industry, AIBF Operations Director, Charles Y. Gray revealed.
He explained the Kofi Anyidoho Award named after English Professor Kofi Anyidoho at the University of Ghana celebrates individuals who have promoted reading and writing in their line of work.
"The Kofi Anyidoho Award honours quality contributions and the three-member Awards Committee makes sure people who are nominated truly deserve it," he added.
Asked to name some of the personalities who would be awarded at the launch, Mr Gray said: "that is the work of the committee and the Chairman will reveal that at the event."
