Residents of Bimbilla in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region are full of joy and praises to government and the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority, for the facelift given to the 47km road from Bimbilla to Yendi which had been a thorn in their flesh until this intervention. Some of the residents reveal the road which used to be travelled within an hour either from both ends, took them close to three hours due to its bad state, adding that some transport owners in the town also withdrew their services because their vehicles always developed faults after plying the road. They also recounted how making the road motorable again had improved standard of living in the area because people from nearby villages and communities can travel with ease to Bimbilla to do trading and partake in other economic ventures. The Bimbilla - Yendi road rehabilitation project which forms part of SADA’s program aimed at rehabilitating all critical roads in its catchment areas, is under the auspices of SADA, Ministry of Roads and Highways, NADMO and National Security. It is being undertaken by the Mobile Maintenance Unit II of the Ghana Highways Authority.Mr Christian Nti, Project Manager of the Mobile Maintenance Unit II of the Ghana Highways Authority who is supervising the projects said, the critical roads rehabilitation program by SADA covered parts of Brong Ahafo and Volta as well as the three northern regions.
